BiographyDr. Robert C. Wilkinson is Director of the Water Policy Program at the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management and a Lecturer in the Environmental Studies Program at UCSB. His teaching, research, and consulting focus on water policy, climate change, and environmental policy issues. Dr. Wilkinson is also a Senior Fellow with the Rocky Mountain Institute. Dr. Wilkinson advises government agencies on water policy, climate research, and policy issues. He currently serves on the public advisory committee for California’s State Water Plan, and he represented the University of California on the Governor’s Task Force on Desalination. He advises various agencies including the California Energy Commission, US DOE National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and the US EPA on water and climate research, and he served as coordinator for the climate impacts assessment of the California Region for the US Global Change Research Program and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. In 1990, Dr. Wilkinson established and directed the Graduate Program in Environmental Science and Policy at the Central European University based in Budapest, Hungary. He has worked extensively in Western Europe, every country of Central Europe from Albania through the Baltic States, and throughout the former Soviet Union including Siberia and Central Asia.
